A prestigious heritage site in central London is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager to join its team. As a key member of the grounds and gardens team, you will assist the Head of Grounds and Gardens in the smooth operation of the site's horticultural activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the maintenance of horticultural machinery and equipment
- Supervise and monitor the work of grounds and gardens staff
- Conduct risk assessments and health and safety checks
- Apply and record the use of chemicals, including pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides
- Liaise with external agencies, contractors, and stakeholders
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the glasshouse, including propagation and production
- Monitor and manage stock levels of PPE and sundry horticultural items
- Relevant experience in horticultural and turf culture practices
- A horticultural/Landscape management qualification Level II, or equivalent
- Safe use of ride on mower certificate, compact tractor certificate, safe use of chemical spraying certificate (PA1/6A)
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Good supervisory skills
The successful candidate will work 41 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role is full-time and permanent, with excellent benefits including enhanced holidays, enhanced pension scheme, development opportunities, and more.
