Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager

A prestigious heritage site in central London is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Grounds and Gardens Manager to join its team. As a key member of the grounds and gardens team, you will assist the Head of Grounds and Gardens in the smooth operation of the site's horticultural activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the maintenance of horticultural machinery and equipment
  • Supervise and monitor the work of grounds and gardens staff
  • Conduct risk assessments and health and safety checks
  • Apply and record the use of chemicals, including pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides
  • Liaise with external agencies, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the glasshouse, including propagation and production
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of PPE and sundry horticultural items
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in horticultural and turf culture practices
  • A horticultural/Landscape management qualification Level II, or equivalent
  • Safe use of ride on mower certificate, compact tractor certificate, safe use of chemical spraying certificate (PA1/6A)
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Good supervisory skills
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work 41 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role is full-time and permanent, with excellent benefits including enhanced holidays, enhanced pension scheme, development opportunities, and more.
