About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant clinical research community working to improve treatments for people with psychosis. As a Principal Clinical / Counselling Psychologist (Research), you will play a key role in delivering new psychological therapies for patients with psychosis, and contribute to the development of innovative treatments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality psychological therapy to patients with psychosis, utilizing evidence-based approaches and best practices.
  • Supervise research assistants in the recruitment and assessment of trial participants, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Provide clinical supervision to other clinicians, promoting excellence in intervention delivery and patient care.
  • Support and promote a set of values that maximize the potential of individuals, fostering their recovery and well-being.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
  • A recognized qualification, current training, or commitment to undertake training in CBT for psychosis.
  • Expertise and/or training in Clinical Supervision for doctorate-level trainees.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialist assessment methods and therapeutic approaches in relation to the client group.
  • Well-developed communication skills, suitable to the specialty.
  • Knowledge of research and audit methodology suitable to the job.

Requirements:

  • Interest in providing psychological interventions for psychosis.
  • Experience of working with people and their carers in Secondary Care Mental Health.
  • Experience of clinical research.
  • Ability to travel during the working day over a large geographical area.
  • Ability to work flexibly with the needs of the client group and trial.

Development Opportunities:

We will also support applications from candidates that meet the criteria for the band 7 role. The successful candidate would be appointed to a Development Post role at band 7 and provided opportunities and support to progress to the band 8a role upon successful completion of a receptorship programme.
