Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a General Casualty Underwriting Specialist to enhance our General Casualty team in the UK.

The primary responsibilities of this role encompass contributing to the expansion and development of the General Casualty business across various distribution channels, assessing accounts, leveraging underwriting expertise to select risks aligned with the company's risk appetite, and fostering new business opportunities with brokers and clients.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, driven, and committed to excellence. Collaboration with actuaries, claims professionals, and fellow underwriters is essential. Strong character, relationship-building, and negotiation skills are crucial for leading and nurturing a profitable portfolio. The successful applicant will prioritize a positive customer experience while adhering to sound underwriting practices. This role is well-suited for a Casualty Underwriter eager to broaden their responsibilities and deepen their underwriting knowledge within a respected global insurance entity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and expansion of the General Casualty business in the UK, focusing on profitable growth.
  • Build, nurture, and enhance relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Underwrite Primary and Excess accounts, ensuring thorough analysis and documentation while maintaining discipline and quality service.
  • Manage a profitable renewal portfolio.
  • Effectively articulate the BHSI value proposition.
  • Represent the company positively by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Casualty Underwriting.
  • Strong underwriting expertise.
  • Established broker and client relationships, or the ability to quickly develop them.
  • Familiarity with policy forms.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation capabilities.
