As a Steel Market Reporter focusing on Green Steel, you will play a pivotal role within the McCloskey Steel Raw Materials team, collaborating closely with the Asia Editorial Director. Your primary responsibility will be to engage with the steel trading community across the EMEA region, facilitating price discovery and identifying emerging trends and opportunities. You will be tasked with producing price assessments, analytics, and news content for our daily publications.
Team Insights:
McCloskey by OPIS delivers comprehensive market intelligence, price indexes, and forecasting services. Understanding the energy transition, which relies heavily on mineral resources, is crucial. You will gain insights into the dynamics influencing the markets for thermal and metallurgical coal, iron ore, scrap, steel, and base metals on a global scale, particularly in key regions such as Australia, Africa, India, China, Europe, and the Americas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regularly report on steel prices, including premiums for Green Steel, with a strong emphasis on the European market.
- Initiate new steel price assessments, establish price specifications, and gather feedback from the market.
- Create news articles focused on the steel industry, particularly regarding Green Steel, contributing to our daily and weekly news outputs.
- Produce periodic analyses on significant industry topics, including regulatory changes, geopolitical matters, investment trends, project pipelines, and ESG considerations.
- Foster and maintain robust relationships with clients and industry stakeholders, ideally leveraging existing connections from previous roles.
- Actively participate in business development efforts, supporting OPIS account managers in maintaining sales pipelines and assisting in the sales process.
- Represent McCloskey and OPIS publicly within the steel sector through client engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, and content marketing initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the steel or steel raw materials sectors.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and impact.
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to moderate discussions at industry conferences.
- Proficiency in quantitative analysis is a plus.
- Excellent written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-sufficient.
- Experience in managing others while maintaining personal productivity.
- A Bachelor's degree is required.
