Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Legal Advisor to oversee Retail-related legal matters across the organization while providing support to essential internal stakeholders. You will report directly to the Head of Legal for Retail and collaborate closely with the Head of Legal for Veterinary Services and other members of our supportive legal team.

As a Senior Legal Advisor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing Retail-related legal matters throughout the organization, including general commercial agreements.
  • Collaborating with Retail leaders and team members to ensure adherence to best practices across the company.
  • Supporting Retail-focused forums within the organization.
  • Providing legal guidance on matters related to pricing, marketing, and consumer rights.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and assessing internal policies and legal documents as needed.
  • Organizing, updating, and delivering legal and compliance training for team members.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A law degree (preferably UK qualified) with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of general commercial agreements and retail contracts, including the ability to draft and negotiate such agreements.
  • Profound knowledge of providing legal advice on related matters.
  • Experience in offering general commercial guidance.
  • In-house experience is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commercially sensible approach.
  • Ability to work independently while respecting reporting protocols.
  • Capability to draft legal documents, summaries, and communications clearly and thoroughly in plain language.
  • Efficiently respond to routine legal inquiries or issues.
  • Ability to identify and analyze key Retail-related issues.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and significant case law.
  • A proactive and positive attitude.
  • Comfortable working both collaboratively and independently in a flexible work environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and possess strong IT skills.
