Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong clinical background to engage and motivate our learners. This role involves delivering educational content across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including collaborative learning experiences within the institution.
Your responsibilities will encompass a comprehensive approach to student engagement, teaching methodologies, and assessment practices. This includes overseeing quality assurance and administrative functions that contribute to an outstanding educational journey for our students. Additionally, you will play a vital role in the entire student lifecycle, from recruitment and academic guidance to clinical placements and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Educator in Surgical Practice, your primary duties will include:
- Designing and implementing innovative and high-quality learning experiences that challenge and inspire students.
- Equipping students with essential skills and knowledge that meet industry standards through effective curriculum delivery.
- Fostering a sense of community among students and serving as a primary contact for their academic needs.
- Contributing to the operational aspects of course delivery and proactively addressing any arising challenges.
- Participating in student orientation and preparing essential information to facilitate their transition.
- Providing pastoral care and supervision to enhance student well-being.
Teaching and Learning
You will be responsible for planning and delivering the curriculum using diverse instructional methods, including technology integration. Engaging in reflective practices to enhance teaching effectiveness and contributing to curriculum innovation will be essential.
Research and Professional Development
Identifying and pursuing research opportunities relevant to your teaching role will be a key aspect of your position. You will also integrate your research findings into the educational framework.
Collaboration and Communication
Working collaboratively with colleagues across various levels and contributing to team objectives will be crucial. Building professional relationships within and outside the institution will enhance the educational experience.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A good honours degree (UK or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- A qualification in operating department practice or a related discipline.
- Current registration with a recognized professional body.
- Significant clinical experience in operating theatres.
- Experience in teaching or mentoring in higher education or clinical settings.
