Morrisons is seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Specialist to enhance our supplier management processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all products sourced from our suppliers meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for:
- Verifying that suppliers and growers adhere to essential quality benchmarks and comply with food safety, legality, and ethical standards.
- Conducting financial yield assessments and operational efficiency analyses to inform procurement strategies.
- Gathering and validating supplier due diligence documentation for various product categories.
- Minimizing stock working capital, reducing depot rejections, and addressing customer complaints effectively.
- Providing expert training and clear communication regarding product quality within a manufacturing environment.
- Performing audits and maintaining communication with suppliers and growers, offering insights on raw material quality and identifying potential issues.
- Advising on stock selection to optimize yield and profitability.
- Collaborating with procurement teams to develop sourcing strategies and understand supply chain dynamics.
- Managing challenges during difficult seasons while ensuring product safety and quality are not compromised.
- Reporting any potential safety, quality, legality, or ethical concerns to the appropriate technical teams and buyers.
- Reviewing grading outcomes and monitoring product quality to provide feedback to producers.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess experience in the nuts and dried fruit or tomato and exotic fruit sectors, with a comprehensive understanding of food production processes. A background in technical or quality assurance roles is essential, along with knowledge of agricultural practices, supplier audits, and relevant standards such as AFS, Global Gap, and BRC. Intermediate knowledge of food safety and HACCP is also required.
