About the Role

We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our Water Treatment department at Severn Trent. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental discharge requirements on our non-infrastructure water sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of environmental compliance objectives and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and address non-compliance issues, including numeric and non-numeric discharge limits.
  • Liaise with permits teams to apply for adjustments to existing discharge permits and support new applications.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to ensure timely resolution of process or site discharge issues.
  • Carry out proactive discharge site audits, including relevant site permits.
  • Attend community of practice sessions to deliver best practice around discharge regulations compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training on onsite testing, discharge process knowledge, and site conditions.
Requirements
  • Excellent technical or process knowledge in Water Treatment or Waste Water Treatment.
  • Understanding of environmental compliance and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience of collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret trends and understand consequences.
  • Passionate about river water quality and site performance.
  • Experience in leading process investigations and understanding of capital investment processes.
  • Awareness of regulatory reporting and other environmental compliance requirements.
