About the Role

Premier Underwriting Limited is a leading motor underwriting agency that manages a significant portfolio of insurance premiums, playing a vital role in the Premier Group, a dynamic organization with a growing insurance company.

We have a proven track record of providing pricing, underwriting, claims handling, and distribution services for UK and Gibraltar-based insurers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to the Executive Director by conducting regular audits to ensure the quality of Premier's and its business partners' activities, focusing on compliance, documentation, accounting, and procedures.
  • Ensure the group complies with FCA regulatory requirements and implement an effective FCA compliance and risk management framework.
  • Identify, analyze, and explain regulatory topics and themes, advising the business on key developments and their impact on the group.
  • Act as the final escalation point for customer complaints, liaising with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as needed.
Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to distill complex rules and guidance into clear communications for diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work with minimal supervision.
  • Drive, curiosity, and determination to improve FCA compliance across the business, coupled with personal gravitas to establish credibility with colleagues and customers.
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in an FCA regulated insurance/financial services environment or an audit-type role with a deep understanding of compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK regulatory framework within the financial services sector, particularly the insurance sector.
  • Knowledge of the FCA Handbook, specifically CASS, DISP, and SYSC.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance business needs with regulatory requirements.
  • Relatable and positive experience of working in a fast-paced transforming organization.
  • Experience in designing and delivering FCA Compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience in conducting compliance and risk gap analysis, and successfully addressing any identified issues.
  • Some project management experience will also be beneficial.
  • Experience of managing and negotiating with external clients at senior level.
  • Ability to work away from the office, including overnight stays, to complete technical audit and compliance functions from time to time.
