Job Title: Mental Health and Well-Being Support Teaching Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health and Well-Being Support Teaching Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with SEMH and mental health needs, promoting their academic, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist students in their learning and development, both socially and emotionally, in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Work closely with other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students, sharing knowledge and expertise to drive student success.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, built on trust, empathy, and understanding.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create personalized learning plans, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture, promoting a growth mindset and encouraging students to reach their full potential.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with Mental Health & SEMH needs, ideally in an educational or care setting.
  • Ability to handle situations calmly and sensitively, with a strong emphasis on de-escalation techniques.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box when supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with staff and external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Genuine care for students' academic, emotional, and personal growth, with a strong sense of empathy and understanding.
  • Supportive and encouraging attitude to inspire trust and motivate students, promoting a love of learning and a growth mindset.
  • Initiative to meet individual student needs based on their communication and learning skills, adapting to changing circumstances as needed.
  • Proven experience working with young people or vulnerable adults, paid or voluntary.
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies as needed.
