Environmental Compliance Officer - Land Protection

This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated, well-organized individual to contribute to our dedicated Environmental Protection Team.

The successful candidate will primarily focus on land contamination tasks, but may also be required to assist with other areas within the team. Previous experience in land contamination, whether from a regulatory or non-regulatory perspective, is highly desirable.

The team oversees various aspects of environmental management, including air quality, land contamination, private water supplies, and environmental permitting. We advocate for flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support a balanced lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform statutory duties under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • Respond to service requests related to land contamination.
  • Review planning consultations and manage the geographical information system.
  • Conduct site visits, either independently or in collaboration with other officers or government agencies.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Highways, Building Control, and Public Health to enhance service delivery.

Personal development and training opportunities will be available, both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences, many of whom may lack a scientific background, thus strong communication skills are essential.

A relevant environmental degree is required, along with flexibility, adaptability, and the capability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while managing competing priorities.
