Job Overview

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Respiratory Medicine Specialist to join our team in the Department of Neurointerventional Radiology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform regular elective interventional sessions, as well as respond to emergency cases that present.
  • Contribute to diagnostic reporting and participate in various multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).
  • Expand the mechanical thrombectomy service provided by the department.

Person Specification
  • Full GMC registration.
  • FRCR or equivalent specialist qualification.
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC).
  • Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC.
Desirable Criteria
  • Training in appraisal techniques.
  • Experience across the breadth of neurointerventional procedures.
  • Evidence of clinical audit.
  • Evidence of research or innovative service development.
  • Ability to communicate, liaise and negotiate with others.
  • Awareness of health service reforms and issues across the healthcare economy.
  • Management and administration experience.
  • Management training.
  • Success in obtaining funding for research.
  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff.
  • Teaching skills/experience.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies.
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good organisational and management skills.
  • Supportive.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Caring attitude to patients.
  • Commitment to good team working and relationships.
  • Commitment to training and continuing medical education (CME).
  • Flexibility to respond to changing service needs.
  • Clear recognition of boundaries in respect of sessional work outside the hospital.
