Job Overview

We are pleased to announce a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior SPV Financial Accountant to become a vital part of our team. This position entails a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The Accountant will oversee and manage the financial and investment components for designated sectors of the organization. The individual in this role is accountable for ensuring that financial management tasks are executed proficiently and in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
SPV Finance delivers financial accounting, investment, and reporting services to a diverse clientele in the PFI/PPP sector, under agreed fees outlined in Management Service Agreements. SPV accounting involves handling a limited number of high-value, contractually intricate transactions. Compliance with the stipulations of these contracts and shareholder agreements is crucial. The team is tasked with producing high-quality financial reports for various boards and stakeholders, meeting their reporting and investment needs within strict timelines. This position demands a flexible individual with extensive accounting knowledge and experience, meticulous attention to detail, and a readiness to explore new accounting areas.
Financial Management Duties:

  • Ensuring robust financial management by implementing appropriate systems, processes, and controls.
  • Generating quarterly management accounts in Excel utilizing Sage data, including reviewing accruals, prepayments, income accruals, and deferrals, along with contract debtor amortization, turnover reconciliations, corporate tax calculations, and deferred tax calculations, while providing commentary on variances.
  • Reviewing and approving monthly bank reconciliations, quarterly VAT returns, and annual corporation tax returns.
  • Guaranteeing adequate cash funding for all bank accounts maintained.
  • Updating financial models biannually for forecasting and budgeting purposes, including evaluating economic assumptions and cash/variance analysis, and submitting to lenders for approval with commentary on movements in cover ratios and distributions.
  • Reviewing monthly cash forecasts and recommending supplier payment schedules.
  • Completing Annual Statutory Accounts in IRIS for audit and managing the audit process to ensure timely filing of accounts (including all balance sheet reconciliations, tax calculations, provisions, and financial notes).
  • Delivering reports that meet both internal and client requirements and deadlines.
  • Providing sound financial advice to investors to support business strategy.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review and enhancement of all aspects of financial management.
  • Participating in ad hoc duties as required, including variation project work, insurance renewals, and financial reports/recommendations for shareholders.
Commercial Management Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.
  • Fostering effective working relationships with clients and key stakeholders (both internal and external) across the organization.
