About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Genomic Data Scientist Lead to join our team at Lifelancer. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in leading our cancer genome analysis and interpretation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to our team of genomic data scientists, ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects.
  • Cancer Genome Analysis: Lead the development and implementation of best practices for cancer genome analysis, including design, stakeholder engagement, code development, and problem-solving.
  • Project Management: Spearhead end-to-end complex genomic analysis projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Tool Development: Conduct benchmarking exercises and enhancements for tools used in processing, analysis, and interpretation of whole genome data.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to high standards of relevance, excellence, and clinical safety in genomic analysis, aligning with Genomics England accreditation requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the successful delivery of projects.
  • Team Management: Take charge of managing and leading an inclusive, high-performing team, ensuring the presence of the right skills to fulfill our mission.
Requirements
  • Cancer Genomics Expertise: In-depth expertise in cancer genomics, understanding tumor drivers, and interpreting genomic data through targeted pathways.
  • Programming Skills: Proficient in utilizing Python for efficient data processing and analysis.
  • Code Development: Hands-on experience in developing high-quality and reusable code, with a strong command of Git and CI/CD practices.
  • Statistical Analysis: The capacity to thoughtfully evaluate statistical and/or machine learning techniques, and proficiently apply them in practical scenarios while interpreting results.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience in leading a cross-functional analytical team in an academic or industry environment.
Qualifications
  • PhD or Equivalent Experience: PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in an industry setting.
