Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Cancer Genomics Data Scientist to spearhead our efforts in cancer genome analysis and interpretation. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that will have a profound impact on patient care and scientific advancement.

As a Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our research environment by:

  • Providing technical leadership and guidance in the field of cancer genomics, ensuring best practices are implemented and maintained.
  • Leading complex genomic analysis projects from conception to completion, encompassing all stages from design and stakeholder engagement to code development, problem-solving, and documentation.
  • Conducting benchmarking exercises and implementing enhancements for tools used in processing, analyzing, and interpreting whole genome data, including alignment, variant calling, annotation, prioritization, interpretation, and quality control.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects and foster a culture of innovation.
  • Mentoring and leading a team of talented data scientists, fostering their growth and development within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A deep understanding of cancer genomics, including tumor drivers and the interpretation of genomic data through targeted pathways.
  • Proficiency in Python for efficient data processing and analysis.
  • Experience developing high-quality, reusable code with a strong command of Git and CI/CD practices.
  • The ability to critically evaluate statistical and machine learning techniques and apply them effectively while interpreting results.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and motivating cross-functional analytical teams.

Education

A PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field is required.
