Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Genomic Data Science Lead to join our Bioinformatics Consulting team at Genomics England Limited. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a range of cancer genome analysis and interpretation projects in collaboration with and on behalf of our external researchers and industrial partners.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in cancer genomics, with expertise in tumor drivers and genomic data interpretation through targeted pathways. They will also have experience in leading cross-functional analytical teams in an academic or industry environment.

The role involves providing technical and scientific leadership in cancer genome analysis, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices for genome analysis at Genomics England, and spearheading end-to-end complex genomic analysis projects.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree or equivalent practical experience in an industry setting, with a strong command of Git and CI/CD practices. They will also have experience in utilizing Python for efficient data processing and analysis, and be proficient in employing and critically evaluating statistical genetics analysis methods.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to high standards of relevance, excellence, and clinical safety in genomic analysis, aligning with Genomics England accreditation requirements. They will also collaborate seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the successful delivery of projects.
