Job Overview

Water Resources East (WRE) is seeking an experienced and confident stakeholder engagement professional to lead a programme of stakeholder engagement to consider objectives, priorities, options, and trade-offs in bringing river systems and waterbodies across Eastern England back to health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day leadership of a stakeholder engagement programme that successfully delivers Environmental Destination (ED) investigations.
  • Promote and facilitate multi-sector involvement at all stages of the programme, improving multi-sector representation and gaining buy-in to work together to address common challenges.
  • Build trust between all parties involved in the programme to support the development of collaborative solutions and reach consensus around environmental aims.
  • Create an engagement programme that leads to shared decision-making and prioritization of environmental improvements and investment within catchments.
  • Bridge the gap between technical work and collaborative decision-making, working within the technical and programme management team to develop a good level of understanding of technical concepts and goals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as WRE's lead point of contact with agricultural sector representatives, including the National Farmers Union, Country Land Business Association, Water for Food Group, and Water Abstractor Groups.
  • Support the Water for Food Group in developing a Water Abstractor Group toolkit, outlining how groups of abstractors can work together with regional groups like WRE to understand their water needs and their role in finding solutions to changing water availability.
  • Support Local Resource Option screening studies, taking a lead role in specific tasks around stakeholder mapping and engagement.
  • Run WRE's Agriculture Forum, working with key stakeholders to develop a framework for integrating agriculture into WRE's regional planning approach.
  • Support the team in the day-to-day running of the 'virtual' office, getting involved in all aspects of the team's activities.
