Design Manager Opportunity at AtkinsRéalis

We are seeking a skilled Design Manager to join our Epsom and South-East practice, based from the Epsom office. As a key member of our Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP), you will be responsible for delivering multi-disciplinary projects from concept through to construction, on our expanding portfolio of the biggest and most challenging projects across the Defence market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver projects to agreed targets, including programme, budget, and quality.
  • Identify and agree project objectives with the Design Director and develop a strategy for achieving these.
  • Manage potential contractual and commercial risks to Atkins and escalate to the Project Director as necessary.
  • Lead the project team, building and motivating them to achieve project goals.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with clients and within the project team.
  • Assemble and own the project delivery programme and delivery plans.
  • Closing out projects on completion, capturing lessons learned, and disseminating them internally.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer or Architect with experience managing design commissions on large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience across a range of construction projects.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities.
  • Understanding of construction contracts, particularly NEC3/NEC4.
  • Experience in preparing project plans, risk registers, and client management plans.
  • Familiarity with BIM and 3D modelling tools for design and coordination purposes.
  • Customer-focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
