About the Role:
Leonardo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing innovative support and training services for our customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop solutions for next-generation support and training services, focusing on the land and air domains.
- Determine customer needs, develop support solution and service concepts, and create compelling bids, including associated documentation.
- Work closely with internal Leonardo teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, to influence and optimize holistic solutions.
- Support the identification, elicitation, capture, and management of stakeholder requirements and create a stakeholder engagement and communication strategy.
- Establish and mature stakeholder needs, associating/attributing priority, interest, influence, and trade-off needs to determine optimum capability to solve stakeholders' problems.
- Support the creation of support and service solutions, identifying and exploiting existing Leonardo technology, processes, and subject matter expertise.
- Carry out system functional analysis, modeling, and architecture development/refinement as required.
- Deliver technical documentation and designs to meet program requirements in terms of time, cost, and quality.
- Escalate emerging issues and levels of risk, helping define opportunities and risk mitigation options.
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder analysis into reports and presentations for delivery to customers and industry partners.
- Foster relationships and networks within and outside CS3, actively identifying opportunities for adoption of best practice.
- Coach or mentor other engineers.
Requirements:
- Experience of analyzing customers' operational needs to guide the development of services capable of meeting current and future support and training environments.
- Understanding of the engineering lifecycle and how decisions made in the early lifecycle affect later stages.
- Ability to balance competing needs using operational analysis, structured analytical techniques, and competitor analysis.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to influence and adapt according to changing demands.
- Ability to elicit technical and commercial stakeholder needs suitable for sell-off.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders from various organizations, disciplines, backgrounds, and levels of seniority.
- Ability to maintain engineering best practice, including looking externally to sources such as academia or other industries.
- Experience of managing requirements, including use of associated toolsets.
- Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem-solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
- Awareness of digital technologies and/or synthetic environments.
- Experience of developing defense-based support or service solutions.
