Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop innovative solutions for next-generation support and training services in the land and air domains.
  • Determine customer needs, develop support solution and service concepts, and create compelling bids.
  • Work closely with internal Leonardo teams and external stakeholders to influence and optimize holistic solutions.
  • Support the identification, elicitation, capture, and management of stakeholder requirements.
  • Establish and mature stakeholder needs, associating priority, interest, influence, and trade-off needs.
  • Support the creation of support and service solutions, identifying and exploiting existing Leonardo technology, processes, and subject matter expertise.
  • Carry out system functional analysis, modelling, and architecture development/refinement as required.
  • Deliver technical documentation and designs to meet programme requirements.
  • Escalate emerging issues and risk, helping define opportunities and risk mitigation options.
  • Coordinate multi-stakeholder analysis into reports and presentations for delivery to customers and industry partners.
  • Foster relationships and networks within and outside CS3, identifying opportunities for best practice adoption.
  • Coach or mentor other engineers.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working at a system level, with a strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to draw out and understand stakeholder needs, looking at different concepts for creating optimal value solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to influence and adapt according to changing demands.
  • Ability to elicit technical and commercial stakeholder needs suitable for sell-off.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders from various organizations, disciplines, backgrounds, and levels of seniority.
  • Experience of managing requirements, including use of associated toolsets.
  • Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem-solving and driving difficult issues to conclusion.
  • Awareness of digital technologies and/or synthetic environments.
  • Experience of developing defence-based support or service solutions.
