About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Kitchen Manager to join our team at Chartwells - Schools. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our school kitchens, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food and customer service to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service: Prepare and present high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our students and staff.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and motivate our culinary and catering teams to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively to deliver excellent food and customer service.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the management of kitchen inventory, including ordering and stock control, to ensure that we have the necessary ingredients and supplies to meet our culinary needs.
  • Financial Management: Monitor and manage kitchen budgets, including labor costs, food costs, and other expenses, to ensure that we are operating within our financial targets.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that our kitchens and food service areas are maintained to the highest standards of health and safety, including compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to our students and staff, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Qualifications: Hold an NVQ Level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds 706/1 and 2, and a Basic Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Qualities: A passion for great-tasting food and exceptional customer service, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a team environment.
