We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team and lead our efforts in safeguarding sensitive information.
Your Responsibilities- Develop and oversee the implementation of a robust data protection and privacy risk framework, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR).
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), managing all regulatory interactions and reporting requirements.
- Conduct periodic independent assessments of our data protection practices and present findings to the Adway Associates Board.
- Provide expert guidance and support to business units on data protection matters, focusing on areas with higher data protection risks.
- Lead and develop a team of privacy risk specialists, fostering a culture of data protection awareness and best practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, third-party vendors, data subjects, and relevant professional bodies.
- Ensure thorough investigations are conducted in the event of data breaches, effectively managing incidents and reporting to relevant parties, including management, the ICO, and affected individuals.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise of national and European data protection laws and practices, including the Data Protection Act 2018, Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation.
- Significant experience as a DPO or similar compliance role within a large financial services organization, with proven expertise in advising on data protection and privacy matters.
- Retail and business banking experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable track record in managing expert assurance review/audit programs.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively conveying complex information to senior management and executive audiences.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, influencing change and driving performance.
- A detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to implementing strategic improvements in data privacy and protection practices.
- Data Protection and/or Privacy Certification such as CIPP, CIPT, ISEB etc.
