About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant General Anaesthetist to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgery, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of anaesthetic services within the trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic services to a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedic, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.
  • Develop and implement anaesthetic services to meet the needs of patients and the trust, including the development of new procedures and protocols.
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior anaesthetists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives within the trust.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist who has:

  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.
  • On the UK GMC Specialist Register or being within 6 months of completion of UK Anaesthetic training.
  • Full GMC registration.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

We would also welcome applications from candidates with:

  • Postgraduate Degree in Education.
  • Experience as a Consultant Anaesthetist in the UK.
  • Interest in ultrasound-guided vascular access and nerve blocks.
