Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

TeacherActive is proud to be working with secondary schools in Coventry that support students with Autism and SEMH needs, ranging from Moderate Learning Difficulties to Challenging behaviour.

The schools we work with cater to students with needs such as disruptive behaviour, outbursts of verbal and physical frustration, ADHD, and Autism.

By building and strengthening healthy relationships with teachers, the schools aim to obtain outstanding performances and results, providing quality outcomes for the future of their students.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Work with students, teachers, and therapists to develop personalized support plans for each student.
  • Implement strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and promote a safe learning environment.
  • Assist teachers in developing and delivering engaging lessons tailored to each individual student's abilities, learning styles, and needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and group learning support to students with additional needs.
  • Look after the physical, social, and mental welfare of students with SEMH needs, creating a safe environment for them and adapting teaching support according to their needs.
Requirements:
  • Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months' experience in an educational establishment.
  • A calm, patient, and caring persona.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Experience in working with students in their education on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Effective behaviour management skills.
  • Effective communication with members of internal staff.
