Lead Nurse Opportunity in Secure Setting

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at HMP Northumberland, focusing on substance misuse and primary care. As a motivated nurse committed to clinical quality and continuous improvement, you will have the opportunity to develop your managerial skills and combine your substance misuse, primary care, acute, and emergency nursing skills in one place, while keeping your NHS Pension.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily management, coordination, and delivery of evidence-based care, providing strong clinical leadership to the nursing team. This includes being involved with shift planning, adjusting staffing levels, and prioritizing the workload in accordance with patient need, service demand, and staff availability and skills.

Main Duties
  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of evidence-based care
  • Provide strong clinical leadership to the nursing team
  • Involve in shift planning and adjust staffing levels as needed
  • Prioritize workload in accordance with patient need and service demand
Person Specification
  • Registered General Nurse Level 1
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and delivery of evidence-based care
  • Independent Nurse/Supplementary/Non-Medical Prescriber qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Appropriate management qualification or equivalent experience
  • RCGP Cert 1/2 Primary Care/LTC qualification
Experience
  • Significant experience of working in a complex environment with multidisciplinary professionals
  • Experience of clinical governance used to improve patient care
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Experience of leading a team and using policy and procedures to improve clinical and professional standards
  • Experience of multidisciplinary/multi-agency working
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality
  • Experience of working within Health & Justice
  • Experience of working in primary care/substance misuse/acute care
  • Understanding of local and national key documents and their impact on healthcare delivery in a prison setting
  • Research experience
