Director, Collaboratory for Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research

Messiah University seeks a visionary leader to direct the Collaboratory for Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research. This esteemed position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation and collaboration across disciplines, fostering holistic solutions to complex technical problems in missions and humanitarian environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a positive culture that embodies the Collaboratory's mission and values.
  • Lead strategic planning in partnership with the ENGR department leadership, ensuring alignment with the university's vision.
  • Coordinate program delivery across multiple engineering project sectors, leveraging expertise and resources to drive impact.
  • Develop and implement discipleship and leadership development programming, empowering students to grow in their faith and professional skills.
  • Facilitate external advisory and student leadership boards, fostering collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage Collaboratory budgets, including operations, fundraising, and donor relations, ensuring effective stewardship of resources.
  • Supervise student leaders and work-study students, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Travel internationally with student site teams and for project or donor development, adhering to university protocols for risk management.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, or significant relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of inspiring others and driving innovation.
  • Experience in ministry/missions and the engineering industry, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these fields.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including students, faculty, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in program development and management, with a focus on engineering-focused projects and partnerships.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a strong understanding of the technical challenges and opportunities in missions and humanitarian environments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
