About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Sous Chef to join our team at ESS, a leading provider of Defence, Government, and Energy services. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of our kitchen and staff in the absence of the Head Chef.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Provide guidance and direction to kitchen staff, ensuring they are preparing and presenting high-quality food that meets our company standards.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Ensure all kitchen staff adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Stock Management: Collaborate with the Head Chef to manage stock levels, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Recruitment and Training: Participate in the recruitment process, including interviews and trials, to identify and develop talented kitchen staff.
  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with the Head Chef, sharing information on stock levels, kitchen operations, and staff performance.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not essential. We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual who can lead our kitchen team.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving stock and equipment.
  • Technical Skills: Confident in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook, with the ability to adapt to new systems and technologies.
