About the Role

We are in search of a seasoned Cybersecurity Lead to direct our cybersecurity strategy and data protection efforts. This position marks our inaugural permanent security role as we aim to establish our security function in-house. You will be tasked with maintaining and enhancing our comprehensive, modern Information Security Management System. As the representative of InfoSec at Validis, you will lead initiatives that elevate our security capabilities, align with business objectives, and promote a proactive stance on cybersecurity.

The Cybersecurity Lead will collaborate closely with Engineering and Operations, receiving direct support from our CTO.

We provide a dynamic startup atmosphere combined with an established brand presence, allowing you to adopt an innovative approach to the role that best aligns with your skills.

Key Responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Lead:

  • Fostering a security-aware culture within the organization by educating employees on best practices and potential threats.
  • Regularly assessing and enhancing the organization's security posture, staying informed about emerging threats, trends, and best practices.
  • Developing the existing information security program, including policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant security regulations and industry standards, such as SOC2 and ISO27001.
  • Creating new information security strategies, executing projects, and implementing initiatives.
  • Coordinating security assessments, penetration testing, and audits (both internal and external).
  • Implementing and maintaining security tools and technologies to support incident response and threat management.
  • Monitoring and analyzing security threats while leading the investigation and resolution of security incidents.
  • Developing and maintaining an incident response plan.
  • Evaluating and managing security risks associated with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance with the organization's security requirements.
  • Effectively communicating security risks, incidents, and mitigation strategies by providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Assisting the sales team in responding to due diligence questionnaires and technical inquiries from customers and prospects, contributing to a central knowledge hub.

Key Role Measures:

  • Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of information security, including risk management, penetration test results, and scorecards.
  • Overseeing the security optimization and ongoing health of our cloud platform operations at scale.
  • Ensuring that all information security risks are either mitigated or accepted by the appropriate SLT owner.
  • Maintaining compliance with current and future standards in line with business aspirations (ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.).

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a strong ethical foundation and unwavering integrity, as they will be entrusted with protecting sensitive financial data and upholding the highest standards of security and privacy. You should have both technical and leadership expertise in InfoSec and be capable of effectively communicating within this domain across the organization.

  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly desirable, showcasing expertise in information security and risk management.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in information security roles, preferably within the financial services or fintech sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing security policies, standards, and procedures for handling sensitive financial data.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools, technologies, and best practices for safeguarding financial systems and data.
  • Knowledge of cloud provider design principles and security models, such as Azure Well-Architected frameworks and Zero Trust.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, techniques, and best practices for protecting financial data.
  • Proficiency in risk analysis, threat modeling, and security architecture design for financial systems.
  • Familiarity with encryption, data masking, and other data protection techniques.
  • Understanding of secure software development practices and secure coding principles.
  • Able to work effectively in a small company environment and collaborate closely with other departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
