Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Midwife to join our Infant Feeding Team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in promoting and supporting infant feeding practices within our maternity department, adhering to the joint infant feeding policy of the trust.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide education and clinical supervision to assist staff in implementing evidence-based approaches to infant feeding and relationship building.
  • Collaborate with the Infant Feeding team to align with the government health promotion agenda and the NHS Long Term Plan vision for the Baby Friendly Initiative.
  • Establish a visible presence in the clinical setting and participate in relevant training programmes to enhance clinical skills related to ankyloglossia (tongue tie).
  • Develop resources on infant feeding and relationship building, and foster harmonious relationships with colleagues and other agencies.
  • Deliver one-to-one support, guidance, and care planning in feeding clinics for complex cases in the antenatal period, and provide a responsive service for feeding clinics postnatally.
  • Work collaboratively with the infant feeding team, including transitional care, to support continuity of care for complex cases from the antenatal to the postnatal period.
Person Specification
  • Registered Midwife with UK NMC Pin.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and training, including mentorship and SSSA.
  • Willingness to undergo training relevant to the role.
  • Advanced clinical skills in tongue tie (Ankyloglossia) and experience of clinical audit.
  • Knowledge of the Baby Friendly Initiative and significant knowledge and skills relating to infant feeding practices.
