Job Title: Environmental Engagement Director

The Environmental Engagement Director is a key member of our team, responsible for creating and supporting avenues for our organization to listen and respond to public input and for the public to learn about the environment and become increasingly engaged in efforts to protect and restore their local land and waterways.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic oversight and management of engagement programs, ensuring alignment with our strategic plan, equity, and inclusivity.
  • Build relationships with community leaders and organizations, overseeing financial activities in collaboration with the Finance Director.
  • Manage and support the Engagement team, ensuring they have the resources and skills needed to meet department objectives and key results.
  • Secure funding for engagement programs through full-cycle grant management and collaboration with the Development team.
  • Collaborate with the Conservation team on strategic opportunities to engage people in conservation work and public programs.
  • Provide support and information to the Board as required, serving as liaison to appropriate committees.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree in environmental education or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental education or engagement, with knowledge of best practices in community engagement strategies, program planning, and evaluation.
  • Minimum 3 years of director-level experience at a similar-sized organization, managing a similar-sized team.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, reporting, and management for private and government funding entities.
  • Team-oriented with strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, practicing personal reflection and self-correction for continual professional growth.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities independently, being flexible and responsive to emerging situations.
