Resuscitation Officer Lead

Job Summary

This role will lead the Trust's Resuscitation agenda, overseeing and working collaboratively with the Trust staff. This will include ensuring the Trust meets the National required standards, organising and carrying out staff training, and to act as the subject matter expert for the Resuscitation Committee.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure accessible Basic Life Support (BLS) training to maintain and improve compliance levels across the trust.
  • Exercise financial prudence and remain within budget.
  • Maintain clinical relevance by contributing to clinical areas, assisting where able, Registered Nurse on ward areas, Operating Department Practitioner theatres, Paramedic Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Ensure courses and equipment meet requirements of Care Quality Commissioner (CQC).
  • Audit Do Not Attempt Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) decisions.
  • Maintain independent incident records.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC registered ODP or Paramedic.
  • RC(UK) Advanced Life Support Provider and PALS or EPLS provider.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Advanced Life Support Instructor and or EPLS instructor.

Experience

  • Significant experience of teaching in a Critical or Emergency care environment.
  • Leading cardiac arrest and medical emergency teams.
  • Leading on datix investigations.

Knowledge

  • Significant knowledge of airway management equipment and difficult airways.
  • Significant knowledge of adult and paediatric resuscitation.

Desirable Knowledge

  • Tracheostomy and Laryngectomy care.
  • Experience in caring for patients in the fields of plastics, burns, maxillofacial, and corneo surgery.
