Job Description

CRA GROUP LIMITED is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to families and young people in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lone Working: You will work independently in various settings, including families' homes, schools, and community settings, to provide support and services to families and young people.
  • Flexible Working Hours: You may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet the demands of the role.
  • Language Fluency: As a Family Support Specialist, you will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and information in accurate spoken English.
  • Hybrid Working: You may be required to work from various locations, including our offices and other community settings, as part of our customer-focused hybrid working approach.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Organizational Skills: You must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills, prioritizing your work and meeting deadlines.
  • Teamwork: You will work as part of a team to provide support and services to families and young people.
  • Assessment and Intervention: You must be able to assess and intervene with young people and their families, devising and implementing individual plans as needed.
  • Communication Skills: You must be able to communicate effectively with a range of people, including families, young people, and colleagues, in various forums, including face-to-face, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Report Writing: You must be able to write comprehensive, succinct, and analytical reports for panels and meetings.
  • IT Skills: You must have sufficient IT skills to produce data, information, and reports using Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and email.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience Working with Children and Young People: You must have experience working with children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience Working with Complex Families: You must have experience working with families who have complex needs or are at risk of becoming a child in care.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Experience: Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting would be an advantage.
  • Evidence-Based Interventions: You must have experience delivering evidence-based interventions and programs.
  • Safeguarding and Vulnerability: You must demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and vulnerability, including child and adolescent development.
  • Risk Management: You must demonstrate an understanding of risk management, including guidance on Early Help.
  • Culturally Sensitive Services: You must demonstrate an understanding of promoting culturally sensitive services to diverse communities.
  • Anti-Oppressive Practice: You must demonstrate a commitment to anti-oppressive practice.
