Position Overview

Core Responsibilities:
Policy, Procedures, and Governance

  • Develop a comprehensive and strategic cybersecurity framework that articulates, formulates, and enforces policies and procedures to ensure effective information security practices, thereby minimizing risks and safeguarding the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of organizational data.
  • Regularly review and update information security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Supervise the establishment, execution, and continuous compliance monitoring of critical business environments to address security concerns and responsibilities.
  • Administer a systematic approach for investigating and responding to security incidents that may lead to data breaches.
  • Support security measures across web infrastructure, SaaS platforms, cloud environments, email systems, and end-user devices.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing standards such as NIST, CIS, SOX, and GDPR.
  • Manage and resolve any issues, risks, or obstacles to ensure timely delivery of security initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance cost efficiency.

Customer Engagement and Environmental Awareness
  • Foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness within the IT department and promote behavioral changes across the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish governance frameworks for the security program.
  • Partner with the Risk Management and Data Protection teams to ensure consistent enforcement of security policies.
  • Stay informed about relevant federal and state security regulations, licensing, and accreditation standards.
  • Work alongside regulatory bodies and internal legal teams during compliance assessments or investigations.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a cost-effective cybersecurity service that enhances overall business performance.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop sustainable IT security systems and monitor progress towards business objectives.
  • Maintain regular communication with cross-functional IT teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Integrate business insights with emerging technologies to identify and prioritize value-creation opportunities.
  • Promote a service-oriented culture within the cybersecurity team and take ownership of customer interactions.
  • Engage in feedback and cross-training initiatives with team members.

Technical Oversight
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs.
  • Act as a cybersecurity consultant for all departments regarding data security matters.
  • Lead cybersecurity projects within the CISO's organization.
  • Serve as a backup to the CISO and provide support for escalated issues and team management.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing information security risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and execute a security risk management plan.
  • Oversee regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Initiate and promote activities that enhance information security awareness throughout the organization.
  • Design and deliver initial and ongoing security training for employees.
  • Evaluate security trends and emerging threats, applying necessary tools to mitigate risks.
  • Manage security incidents and events effectively.
Team Leadership
  • Lead a specific team within the cybersecurity function to ensure alignment with IT and security objectives.
  • Motivate, develop, and manage team members to meet performance standards and support their professional growth.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, and rewards within the team.
  • Establish clear responsibilities and accountability for team members to foster a culture of performance.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Relevant professional qualifications at the degree level or equivalent (e.g., computer science, information systems management).
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in information security analysis and program management within a global IT organization.
  • Proven ability to understand and support operational systems and processes.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a complex organization, preferably in financial services or insurance.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
