Financial Inclusion Specialist

The Financial Inclusion Officer will provide a comprehensive income maximisation and money management service to Kingston Council tenants, supporting them to sustain their tenancy.
Key Responsibilities:- Maximise income through welfare benefits applications and appeals.
- Offer support and advice on money management and effective budgeting.
- Complete income and expenditure forms to establish affordable repayment plans for outstanding debts.
- Collaborate with internal and external departments to provide holistic financial support.
The team delivers a proactive service, offering:
- Proactive support for new tenants at the beginning of their tenancy.
- Free, impartial advice on welfare benefits and tax credits.
- Face-to-face appointments for welfare benefit or debt issues.
- Assistance with housing benefit disputes and backdated payments.
- Guidance on benefit appeals and Universal Credit.
- Management of casework for an average of 30 households/individuals.
- Money guidance and signposting to specialist agencies.
- Monthly performance and financial outcomes reporting.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs and in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits. They should be able to provide evidence of money management and budgeting advice in a previous role.
We seek candidates with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to provide detailed case recording.
The successful candidate will work empathetically with financially vulnerable tenants, presenting a range of support needs.
Attendance at our offices in Guildhall 2, Kingston, is essential for a minimum of 2 days per week.
Citizens Advice Adviser training and knowledge of NEC/Iworld and Civica systems are desirable, but full training will be provided if required.
