Financial Inclusion Specialist

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a skilled Financial Inclusion Specialist to join our team. As a Financial Inclusion Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing an in-depth income maximisation and money management service to our tenants, supporting them to sustain their tenancy.
Key Responsibilities:- Achieve income maximisation by completing welfare benefits applications and providing support and advice on money management and effective budgeting.
- Complete income and expenditure forms to support tenants to set up affordable repayment plans for outstanding debts.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external departments and partner agencies to support tenants to manage their finances in the best way possible.
- Deliver a proactive service offering appointments to new tenants at the beginning of their tenancy.
- Provide free impartial advice and support on a range of welfare benefits and tax credits.
- Face-to-face appointments will be offered to support tenants with their welfare benefit or debt issues.
- Assist with housing benefit disputes and back dates.
- Guide and support tenants when making benefit appeals.
- Advise on Universal Credit.
- Manage casework for an average of 30 households/individuals.
- Provide money guidance advice and signpost to specialist agencies when necessary.
- Offer monthly statistics on performance and financial outcomes for those supported.
To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs and full in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits. You must be able to evidence providing money management and budgeting advice in a previous role.
We are looking for candidates with excellent verbal and written communication skills who can provide detailed and clear case recording.
You will be expected to work empathetically with financially vulnerable tenants who may present with a range of support needs.
It is essential that you are able and willing to attend our offices for a minimum of 2 days per week.
