Position Overview: Production Team Leader

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the performance of the production team to achieve key objectives, including timely delivery of the right quantities and maintaining high-quality standards. This role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and cost-effective operations while maximizing machine line efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance product quality and optimize machine and labor efficiency, as well as equipment and facility utilization.
  • Revise procedures and work instructions to align with quality systems such as GMP, HACCP, and BRC, as well as customer requirements.
  • Initiate and support cost-saving projects through Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise and communicate effectively with team members to ensure product quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Conduct training sessions on basic sanitation, GMP, and HACCP for staff.
  • Facilitate KPI tracking through effective meetings and performance reviews.
  • Empower team members to engage in cross-functional problem-solving, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor actual productivity against planned targets within the assigned plant.
  • Undertake special assignments as required.
  • Promote a culture of safety among all employees.
  • Analyze and improve production variances and On-Time In-Full (OTIF) metrics.
  • Assist in costing and routing for New Product Development (NPD).
  • Evaluate staff performance and implement necessary interventions for improvement.
  • Ensure effective collaboration and coordination with relevant departments, including Quality, Engineering, and Management.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Technology, or a related field.

Certifications: Certification in Manufacturing or quality systems such as GMP, HACCP, and BRC.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-10 years in the food manufacturing sector.

Interpersonal Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities, effective cross-functional communication, and proficiency in English.

Ability to respond quickly and focus on critical issues, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.

Other Skills & Competencies:

Ability to thrive under pressure.

Familiarity with SAP systems.

Knowledge of LEAN and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles.
