Position Overview

Bensons for Beds Retail is seeking a skilled Logistics Operations Supervisor to support the Transport Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of our distribution center. The ideal candidate will possess a background in home delivery and experience in a transport office environment. Familiarity with warehouse operations is also advantageous.

This role involves a commitment of 40 hours per week, spread across 5 days.

Key Responsibilities

The Logistics Operations Supervisor will play a crucial role in assisting the Transport Manager with the seamless functioning of the distribution center. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring a safe and compliant transport operation.
  • Collaborating with the Site Operations Manager to uphold all operational processes both on-site and in transit.
  • Overseeing the logistics operations, ensuring that plans, fleet management, equipment, and staffing levels align with demand.
  • Embodying the company's core values and serving as an inspiring leader through consistent communication.
  • Focusing on customer satisfaction, ensuring that all team members recognize their impact on service quality and managing performance to enhance customer feedback.
  • Developing innovative strategies to drive continuous improvement in operational performance.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members to foster talent and succession planning within the logistics operation.
  • Working closely with the Site Operations Manager to identify efficiencies and implement best practices.
  • Facilitating objective setting and performance evaluations for all team members.
  • Assisting in the organization of maintenance and servicing of machinery and vehicles in compliance with legal standards.
  • Managing driver hours in accordance with working time regulations.
Required Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Prior experience in a warehouse setting is preferred.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of transport regulations.
