Senior Financial Accountant

Job Summary
The Senior Financial Accountant will be a key member of the accounting and reporting team within Admiral Insurance Plc in Cardiff and will be responsible for coordinating and delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and statutory accounts. This role will also involve managing and coaching other members of the accounting team.
Main Responsibilities
- Ownership of the financial accounts for the UK Intermediary business, including liaison with other finance teams and Group Finance to work through any queries on consolidation.
- Supporting the preparation and review of various regulatory and tax returns.
- Review of work and journals prepared by accountants in the team.
- Developing existing control and accounting processes and driving improvements.
- Leading the development and implementation of accounting processes and controls for new products or projects from the finance change agenda as appropriate.
- Researching technical accounting issues and preparing accounting papers.
- Supporting the external audit process and internal audit activity and acting as a day-to-day contact for the entity.
- Line management responsibility, as well as day-to-day leading, developing, and coaching a team of accountants/trainees.
- Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by the Finance Manager and Financial Controller.
- Deputising for the Finance Manager as necessary.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant with a minimum of years post-qualification experience in a Financial Accounting role.
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS.
- A focus on supporting and developing individuals to empower them to achieve required outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills – ability to prioritise and plan and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and teams.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with challenging and influencing a range of business stakeholders.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- Self-motivator, pro-active in all aspects of the role.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Understanding or experience working in the finance team of an insurance intermediary business.
- Line management experience.
Location and Work Arrangements
This role is a hybrid working role with a requirement to attend our Cardiff office once per week. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.
Salary and Benefits
We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate's experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
