Job Overview
The Clearing & Payments department plays a vital role in supporting Bank of China's operational processing for various banking products. As a Payments Processing Specialist within the Retail Payments team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of UK and international retail payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Process a range of domestic and international retail payments, including BACS, CHAPS, SWIFT, GIRO credits, faster payments, UK domestic cheque clearing, and bank draft clearing.
- Set up and process regular customer payments such as standing orders and direct debits.
- Investigate, resolve, and escalate any processing issues, collaborating with Bank of China's retail branches to ensure timely resolution of customer payment queries.
- Contribute to streamlining processes by identifying opportunities for improvement while adhering to relevant regulations and operational risks.
- Assist with the testing and implementation of new systems and system upgrades as required.
- Review and revise established business procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction standards by providing prompt and effective support.
- Capture statistical information for reporting purposes.
- Provide support with system testing for implementation and upgrades.
- Assist with relevant investigations regarding payments to ensure compliance and resolution.
Requirements
- A degree, preferably in Business or a related field.
- A strong academic background with a minimum of 3 A-levels or equivalent qualifications, including GCSEs in Mathematics and English.
- Experience in accounting or banking operations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SWIFT and retail banking payment processing, as well as relevant global payment schemes, is an advantage.
- Awareness of relevant legislation such as Consumer Duty, FCA, and PRA Regulations.
- A fast learner who is adaptable to changes in the financial environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent teamwork skills and a collaborative approach.
- Strong English communication skills, with Mandarin language proficiency being beneficial.
