Role Purpose:

The Biotechnologist 1 position offers an entry-level opportunity to learn and execute fundamental skills within a GMP Manufacturing environment. You will progress from supervised to unsupervised activities, gaining valuable experience in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training & Development:
    • Gain a comprehensive understanding of production systems and relevant Lonza platforms to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.
    • Maintain your training file, consistently meeting targets and ensuring full training in all aspects of production activities.
    • Seek opportunities to expand your knowledge beyond assigned core areas.
    • Consistently achieve objectives within the designated timeframe.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Adhere to established safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your tasks and area.
    • Promptly report any safety concerns or hazards observed in your work environment.
    • Thoroughly review and understand COSHH assessments before commencing activities. Demonstrate a proactive approach to safety in all endeavors.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Maintain high standards of cGMP compliance for yourself and others.
    • Familiarize yourself with Lonza quality procedures, including change control, deviation management, and validation protocols.
    • Assist in reviewing and closing out comments on completed batch records.
    • Utilize the Trackwise system to effectively raise deviations, follow up on actions, and close out CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
  • Documentation & Process:
    • Ensure meticulous documentation practices are followed for yourself and others.
    • Verify that all documents are thoroughly read and understood, and appropriate training is completed before completing batch records.
  • Manufacturing Operations:
    • Actively participate in the manufacturing process by performing preparation activities related to scheduled purification facility operations (e.g., column packing, UF preparations, and equipment sterilization).
    • Contribute to a safe and efficient work environment through adherence to established protocols and procedures.
