Job Title: Technical Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to lead our Systems Integration / Automation team from our offices in Southampton. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager and be responsible for managing a team of Automation Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of Automation Engineers to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Conduct pre-contract site surveys to identify project requirements.
  • Collaborate with the tendering team to prepare quotations.
  • Analyze resources and allocate them effectively in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Investigate and develop solutions (optioneering) to meet project requirements.
  • Select and purchase equipment to meet project needs.
  • Define control system documentation (FDS, SDS, FAT, SAT) to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Configure and program multiple PLC, HMI, SCADA, and telemetry systems.
  • Configure and program Mitsubishi (A, FX, and Q range) and Mitsubishi HMIs (Beijer).
Requirements:
  • A background of working as a Senior Automation Engineer.
  • Previous experience leading a team of Automation Engineers.
  • Writing standard library functions with full documentation.
  • Defining specifications and standards.
  • IT / OT network configuration.
  • Relevant engineering qualification or by experience.
  • Experience of working within NEC 3 / 4 contract environments.
  • Knowledge of the water / wastewater industry advantageous.
