Job Description

**Job Summary:**

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in a challenging behaviour setting. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an Alternative Provision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher and multi-agency teams in devising learning and care plans to encourage the child/young person to reach their full potential.
  • Set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour while supporting the child academically, emotionally, and socially.
  • Work collaboratively with the support staff to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the young adults.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with the young adults, their families, and other professionals involved in their care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans and behaviour management strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a support setting, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
  • Knowledge and experience of writing reports and contributing to the development of care plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with young adults, families, and professionals.
  • Clear Enhanced DBS registered to the update service (GSL Education can provide guidance on how to start a new application).
  • Ability to provide a full career history and two professional referees.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Team Teach, Mappa, Nappi, or Pillars training.
  • Experience working in a Challenging SEN Provision, Youth/Community/Social Services, Residential Support, Ex-Military, Police, Prison, or Security Services.
