Job Title: Special Needs Support Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Needs Support Worker to join our team at GSL Education.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide support to young adults with various Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an Alternative Schooling Provision. The role involves working closely with the class teacher, support staff, and multi-agency teams to devise learning and care plans, and to encourage the child/young person to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher and support staff in devising learning and care plans for young adults with SEN.
  • Encourage and support young adults to reach their full potential academically, emotionally, and socially.
  • Set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to provide a holistic support package for young adults.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEN in a support setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of writing reports.
  • Background in Challenging SEN Provisions, Youth/Community/Social Services, Residential Support, Ex Military/Police/Prison/Security Services, or Mental Health Support Services.
  • Desirable: Team Teach, Mappa, Nappi, or Pillars Trained.
  • Clear Enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
  • Ability to provide a full career history and 2 referees.
