Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Orthoptist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As an Orthoptist Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with a range of eye conditions, including children and adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and neurological problems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose patients with complex eye conditions, including children and adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and neurological problems.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans for patients, including those with glaucoma, stroke, and other eye conditions.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner, making decisions on the instillation of drops for diagnostic and refraction purposes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, and Nurses, to provide comprehensive eye care services.
  • Participate in clinical teaching and training, sharing knowledge and expertise with other healthcare professionals.

  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
