Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled and empathetic SEN/Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will engage closely with students who have SEN and autism, offering customized support to enrich their educational journey and personal growth.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and small group assistance to students with SEN and autism.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support the classroom educator in modifying and managing lessons to cater to the needs of SEN/ASD students.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Track and document students' progress, providing insights to educators and guardians.
  • Help prepare educational materials and resources tailored to individual requirements.
  • Facilitate social and emotional growth through positive reinforcement and support.
  • Engage in training and professional development to remain updated with best practices in SEN and autism assistance.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant with students who have SEN and autism, ideally in a secondary school context.
  • Relevant credentials in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • Strong comprehension of SEN and autism, including effective support strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to assisting students with SEN and autism.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
