About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Palliative Medicine Consultant to join our team at Princess Alice Hospice. As a key member of our medical team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our palliative services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and expertise in palliative care, working closely with our multi-professional team to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
  • Conduct holistic assessments and develop comprehensive care plans for patients, ensuring their needs are met and their dignity is respected.
  • Collaborate with external healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions and continuity of treatment.
  • Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance our palliative services and contribute to the development of best practices.
  • Provide education and supervision to medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals, promoting excellence in palliative care.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent qualification in medicine.
  • MRCGP or MRCP or equivalent qualification in general practice or internal medicine.
  • On the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine or within 3 months of CCT date at the time of interview.
  • Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
  • Subscription to a defence union.
  • Fitness to practise, with up-to-date knowledge and evidence of being fit to practice safely through appraisal/revalidation.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Diploma in Palliative Medicine or equivalent.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-professional team.
  • Leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Clinical governance and quality improvement skills, with the ability to identify and implement best practices.
  • Research and audit skills, with the ability to design and implement studies to improve patient outcomes.
