About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our Community Nursing Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our registered nurses in the delivery of clinical care to patients in their own homes, surgeries, and residential care settings.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist registered nurses in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care, including the performance of personal care tasks and clinical interventions.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, including those with terminal illnesses.
  • Collect and use equipment safely, ensuring proper decontamination between uses.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, colleagues, and other agencies to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, stock levels, and supplies, reordering as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain strong IT skills, particularly in relation to the use of clinical systems.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge and understanding of community care philosophy and procedures, gained through formal qualification or experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in care or equivalent level of skill and knowledge gained through experience and competence assessment.
  • Awareness and understanding of common health problems that may impede physical, mental, or social functioning.
  • Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes (or a Trust personal lease vehicle).
