About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our Community Nursing Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our registered nurses in their daily tasks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist registered nurses in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care, including personal care tasks and clinical interventions.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, promoting a positive and caring environment.
  • Collect and maintain equipment, ensuring its safe use and decontamination between each use.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues to ensure seamless care and onward referral when necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, reordering supplies as required.
  • Utilize IT systems, including System One and General Practice clinical systems, to support patient care and administrative tasks.

Person Specification

  • Knowledge and understanding of community care philosophy and procedures, gained through formal qualification or experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in care or equivalent level of skill and knowledge gained through experience and competence assessment.
  • Awareness and understanding of common health problems that may impede physical, mental, or social functioning.
  • Previous experience working in a health or social care setting.
  • A valid driving license and ability to use a car for work purposes or access to a Trust personal lease vehicle.
