Job Summary
The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking a highly skilled Quality and Improvement Lead to join our Quality Team based in Coventry. As a Quality and Improvement Lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing quality management systems, managing quality teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement quality management systems, including project-level QMS, to meet customer contractual requirements.
- Manage and develop the quality team to ensure effective quality management and control.
- Conduct quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Document and formalize processes to ensure quality management and control.
- Review customer and contract requirements to ensure compliance.
- Establish and maintain quality controls and documentation procedures.
- Work with procurement to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
- Monitor performance and gather data to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement quality assurance strategies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Manage internal and external quality issues through effective root cause analysis and action plans.
- Participate in external audits and manage the internal audit program.
- Liaise with managers and staff to provide training and tools to achieve quality standards.
- Train and facilitate quality control champions to ensure quality management and control.
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- Good working knowledge of quality management and the effective adoption of ISO 9001 & AS9100.
- Understanding of customer journey and experience.
- Quality planning and relevant standards, e.g. AQAP.
- Good numeracy skills and confident working with numbers and data.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Auditing best practice.
In addition:
- Background in civil nuclear/aerospace quality management systems.
- Significant experience in an analogous role.
- Degree-level education.
- Member of or working towards membership of appropriate professional body.
- A high degree of personal motivation.
- The ability to work in a matrix management structure, embedded in a dynamic Research & Development environment.
- Competent auditor.
- Ability to lead and manage change.
- Ability to work within a team, providing support to team members and encouraging development.
