Job Title: Deputy Head Groundsperson

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Groundsperson to join our established grounds team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering grounds maintenance at all sites to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with heads of sport to ensure surfaces and pitches are prepared and inspected for all College fixtures and Games sessions.
  • Ensure end users receive the best possible experience on extensively used surfaces.
  • Cope with a busy routine to fully utilise limited windows of pitch availability for grounds work.
  • Supervise a team of 3 to ensure day-to-day preparation and maintenance of sports pitches and grounds.
  • Monitor the results of the grounds maintenance service and suggest and deliver improvements.
  • Promote safe working practices within the grounds team.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety requirements for each task are in line with H&S legislation, best practice, and the College H&S policies.
  • Provide front-line grounds services in adverse weather conditions, including ice/snow clearance from pathways around the sites.
  • Deputise for the Head Groundsperson in their absence.
Person Specification:
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent in sports turf or a related field.
  • Full and clean driving licence, as they are a multi-site facility.
  • Experience in using a variety of grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • A good communicator.
